About Kate

Welcome to my personal webpage.

My name is Kate MacKay. I live in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. I am a recent graduate from the Fredericton campus of the New Brunswick Community College (NBCC). I graduated in June 2018 and I’m looking for a job.

I did my five-week internship required for my diploma at Grant Thornton in Fredericton. I learned a lot there and I’m eager to continue developing my accounting skills, preferably in the Fredericton area.

My long-term ambition is to earn my  CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) designation.  My first step towards that end goal would be completing my studies for ACAF — the Advanced Certificate in Accounting and Finance. To that end, I am enrolled as a part-time distance education student at the University of Toronto. I am working towards the Certificate in Advanced Proficiency in Accounting and Finance — a program that is recognized by CPA Ontario as a professional development program.

I would like to stay in Atlantic Canada because I have a deep connection to this place. I want to spend my life making our community more welcoming, more supportive and more productive for all our citizens. To this end, my volunteer work has been focussed on community food security — whether my labour was at the Greener Village Community Food Centre (the Fredericton Food Bank), working with the board of Good Food Greater Fredericton or serving on the steering committee for the Urban Teaching Farm Project in Devon. My current challenge has been to combine my passion for poverty alleviation along with practicing my accounting skills by serving as Treasurer for the Fredericton Homeless Shelters Inc.
